Pete Hendley has traveled extensively and lived in Australia, Guatemala and Mexico. He is the 2019 Winner of the Black and White Magazine Single Image Spotlight Award in the Travel Category, Issue #136 December, 2019. He is the author of three books: The World is Beautiful: Two Years on the Road (Photos), which was a 2021 North Street Book Prize Semi-Finalist, and LCI 85: The Military Career of Lt(jg) Coit Hendley During the Invasions of North Africa, Italy, and Omaha Beach on D-Day: His Papers and Photos and 55 Photos: Baltimore 2021. He has published photographs with The Travel Channel, Travel & Leisure, USA Today, Forbes, Detroit Free Press, The Cut, Virtuoso and more and is a stock photographer for Getty Images and Alamy. He has published fiction in Cricket Magazine; Aethlon: The Journal Of Sport Literature; the anthology The Workshop; as well as articles in The Daily Iowan newspaper. A graduate of The University of Iowa Writers' Workshop, he makes his home in Iowa City, Iowa.
